Hey #LumifyFam!!

My name is Anthony, and I'm the Co-Founder & CEO at Lumify Care. I decided to study nursing at Penn because I was always intrigued by how healthcare operated, and I knew nurses were the main engines leading healthcare from the frontline.

During nursing school, I grew a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship, which led me to getting involved with social impact work and ultimately founding Lumify Care. Starting a company during nursing school may have been one of the hardest things I've ever done; however, seeing Lumify's brand out there and helping healthcare pros feel supported has been one of the most fulling things I've ever done.

When I think about the brands, organizations, and resources that have supported me throughout my nursing journey, many come to mind. That being said, I was always overwhelmed choosing which scrubs I should wear, what brands I wanted to support, which communities there are for healthcare pros, what tools I needed... the list goes on and on and on. Through my experience with this pain point, as well as launching Lumify's uNight Light and interviewing over 250+ healthcare pros, the solution became clear to us at Lumify Care: we need to build a one-stop-shop for healthcare pros.

The Lumify Hub helps healthcare pros find, share, and buy the gear and resources we need to excel. We're doing this by unifying the brands, organizations, resources, and communities that you love in one centralized hub. Imagine this like Amazon but exclusively for healthcare pros, with transparent peer-led reviews, content creators, rewards, and more.

As we began ideating about what this one-stop-shop should include, most healthcare pros brought up the word "transparency," something that has seemed to be disappearing in our professional ecosystem. That's what we're starting to build out an easier way for you to openly discuss what brands you love and recommend.

My fav products, resources, and communities!

I think community is so important while in nursing school. You really have to get through your intense course work and clinical hours with peers by your side. This led me to finding communities like HOLLIBLU, the Asian Care Unit, Nurses Inspire Nurses, NurseCon, and SMYS. I think these communities are super powerful and can help nurses encourage peer-to-peer support and resiliency.

Throughout nursing school, I had to wear pretty baggy scrubs that my University vendor provided. Now, however, I am a Jaanuu stan. Also, I love supporting brands like Care+Wear and Mediclo that have a social impact mission.

While at Penn and participating in the various on-campus startup events, etc. I was lucky enough to meet Joe Ammon and Jordyn Amoroso from Clove. At the time in 2019, Clove hadn't launched yet; however, I knew it was going to be something huge. Joe gave me a Clove long-sleeve t-shirt and I consider it a vintage item now as they've grown. Always love rocking my Night Shift, Grey Matter, and Pride Clove sneakers. And of course, having solid compression socks make a huge difference as you're standing on your feet all day! Clove and ProCompression socks have great choices.

In nursing school, mental health is so important. For me, mindfulness was something I learned and truly fell in love with. I frequently use Calm for self-guided meditations, and I love Keener app for reflection.

Well I might be biased here, but when I think of awesome must-have tools in healthcare, Lumify's uNight Light definitely comes to mind :) We created the uNight Light out of a direct pain point we felt on the frontline. Another brand I think is super awesome and even is LGBTQ+ owned is Eko. Once you've used an Eko stethescope, there really isn't any going back because it is so helpful!

I always laughed with my nursing friends about how much information we were expected to absorb so quickly. Studying materials during nursing school and while studying for the NCLEX have always been a must-have. uWorld and Saunders NCLEX-RN Examination review book are my two go-twos. Also, you can't beat Mark Klimek lectures.

Finding time to eat healthy during nursing school was pretty impossible. HelloFresh became the easiest way for me to have easy to prepare meals that were super high quality and nutritious.

While I've never been a traveling nurse, if I was, I would 100% recommend using MedVenture and Kamana. Both of these companies are nurse-led and truly here to support you and make your life better as a traveler. I've honestly used MedVenture to find other nurses in my area even though I'm not a traveling nurse. Another resource you may have heard of is Furnished Finder. I actually used their website to find my apartment for when I moved cities after school.

Some general tips and tricks for nursing school: make sure you are sleeping! I know for me sometimes falling asleep was a challenge in school and even while running Lumify since there is always so much on my mind. I've used Flowly to help me unwind, clear my mind, and fall asleep and it really has made a huge difference. It has an awesome VR experience that makes you feel like you're in this calm relaxing world!

Finding a way to unify your resources!! And that's exactly what the Lumify Hub is for!

Working in healthcare can be challenging, emotionally draining, disheartening, and rewarding. It's a rollercoaster of emotions. My hope is that the Lumify Hub helps unify our professional resources and makes our lives a bit easier. There is so much room to grow the hub, and I can't wait for what's to come. I look forward to the day where healthcare pros are supported and empowered with all the resources and tools they need in one centralized hub. Thank you for being a part of the #LumifyFam and helping us reach this vision.

If you have any feedback or ideas about the hub, feel free to drop me a line at or @lumifycare. I can't wait to hear from you!
